The Government has recently announced a new scheme , launching in September, offering vouchers worth up to £5,000 to be issued to homeowners in England to make their homes more energy efficient.

How the Green Home Grant will Work?
Recently, the Government announced plans to give some homeowners in England money to spend on eco-friendly home improvements. The aim of the scheme is to help homeowners and promote energy efficiency, but also to help boost the economy, which has drastically fallen during the pandemic, by creating jobs.
You will be able to apply online for a voucher once the scheme is up and running in September.
How much are the Vouchers Worth?
For the majority of homeowners, the vouchers will be worth around two-thirds of the cost of the energy efficient improvements, up to a maximum of £5,000 per household.
For those on low incomes, you will be able to get more – the government will go even further by covering the full cost up to £10,000.
For example, if you’re installing cavity wall and floor insulation costing £4,000, you would only pay about £1,320, with the government making up the remaining £2,680.
Green improvements such as insulation can also help cut your energy bills, with the Government saying families could be able to save hundreds of pounds a year as a result.
What Can You Spend the Money on?
You’ll be able to spend the vouchers on a host of different energy-saving features; including double-glazed windows and low energy lighting to eco-friendly boilers and loft, wall and floor insulation.
There will also be a list of recommended and accredited suppliers on the website, which the government says will create vast work and employment for tradesmen.
Am I Eligible to get a Voucher?
It is estimated that around 600,000 homes across England will benefit from the Green Grant scheme. The government haven’t yet said how long it could take for an application to be approved and a voucher issued, but they will elaborate on this scheme in the coming weeks allowing you to know if you are eligible.
